Anna Simm
(B.A) Bachelor of Dance | A.R.A.D
(DDTS) Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies-Royal Academy of Dance
Anna has more than 25 years experience in dance and over 10 years in teaching. Her love of dance began at the 'Marie Walton Mahon Dance Academy' in Newcastle, NSW. She trained in a variety of dance styles including R.A.D grade and major examinations, Vaganova Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and National Character.
After achieving her Advance 2 Level Certificate (R.A.D), Anna was accepted into the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Dance in 2005. Whilst studying at the V.C.A she worked with choreographers such as Neil Adams, Rochelle Carmichael, Brett Daffy, Becky Hilton, Kage Physical Theatre and Anna Smith.
After graduating from the V.C.A in 2007 with a Bachelor of Dance, Anna performed in numerous contemporary works such as 'Dance Miniature' (Melbourne Fringe Festival - 2009), '499th Day' (Liquid Skin Dance Company (Melbourne Fringe Season 2010) as well as performing for the National Gallery of Victoria and Channel 9's the 'Today Show'.
More recently, Anna has become a member of 'Kalinka Dance Folk Company' and has appeared in numerous performances around Melbourne. In 2016, Anna achieved a Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies with the 'Royal Academy of Dance', and is a registered R.A.D Teacher. Anna is also a fully accredited KinderBallet teacher.
SENIOR STAFF
KYLE DAVEY
Kyle’s dance training began at 8 years of age at the Dubbo Ballet Studio. With a desire to further his training, Kyle moved to Brisbane to dance with the Queensland Dance School of Excellence.
While completing his QCE he achieved his RAD Solo Seal and danced with the Queensland Ballet.
Kyle then attended The Australian Ballet School after winning the 2nd (male) scholarship at the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Ballet Scholarship. At The Australian Ballet School, Kyle received an Advanced Diploma and the Graeme Murphy Award for Excellence in Contemporary Dance.
He then moved to England and joined New English Contemporary Ballet, where he performed and created Soloist roles in new and existing works in the company’s repertoire. Kyle has also danced with Tivoli Ballet in Copenhagen, Cork City Ballet in Ireland and Ballet Russes in Wales. He was a part of a choreographic research project directed by Wayne McGregor at the Royal Opera House in London in 2008 and asked back again in 2009. He was then invited to join Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada from 2010-2012, creating soloist roles for many new ballets in the company’s repertoire which toured nationally and internationally.
As a teacher, Kyle has taught classical ballet and contemporary dance at VCA, Transit Dance, Scimm Dance Company, Ministry of Dance, Ballet Theatre Australia and many more. He completed a Graduate Diploma of Elite Dance Instruction through the Australian Ballet School and has a Cert 4 in Training and Assessment. Kyle is a licenced and certified Gyrotonic Instructor and regular guest contemporary and ballet teacher at the Australian Ballet School’s Summer School.
Kyle has been a teacher at AMS since 2018.
